STORY:  KIDS AND VACAY

REPORTER: HARRIS/24-7

SOUND WITH:   MELANIE FISH, TRAVEL EXPERT

A NEW "KID-PINION" SURVEY FROM THE TRAVEL SITE HOMEAWAY FINDS THAT MANY ARE INVOLVING THEIR KIDS IN PLANNING THE FAMILY'S SUMMER VACATION THIS YEAR.  MELANIE FISH, A TV TRAVEL EXPERT WHO'S WORKING WITH HOMEAWAY THIS YEAR, SAYS PARENTS ARE GIVING KIDS MORE OF A VOICE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO RECONNECT WITH THEM AFTER A BUSY FALL, WINTER AND SPRING.  SHE SAYS THE SURVEY FOUND THAT BEACHES, MOUNTAINS AND NATIONAL PARK DESTINATIONS ARE FAVORITES WITH KIDS.  AND KIDS WERE FOUND TO BE MORE INTERESTED IN DOWNTIME THAN DESTINATION.  IT ALSO SUGGESTED GETTING A HOTEL SUITE IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT SO YOUR KIDS CAN HAVE A SEPARATE ROOM. FISH,  WHO'S WORKING WITH HOMEAWAY THIS YEAR, SAYS MANY OF TODAY'S PARENTS WANT TO USE VACATION TIME TO RESTORE FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS.            ====================================================================<PSI_START_OBJECT><PSI_MEDIA><Media2><MediaID>578821</MediaID><Name>C365 MELANIE FISH</Name><FileName>X:\Media\C365 MELANIE FISH_1.wav</FileName><Length>00:00:04.9</Length><OutCue>PLANNING A VACATION</OutCue><Description>STATEMENT OF FACT</Description></Media2><PSI_MID_OBJECT>Media : C365 MELANIE FISHLength: 00:00:04.9OutCue: PLANNING A VACATIONDescription: STATEMENT OF FACT.<PSI_END_OBJECT><PSI_START_OBJECT><PSI_MEDIA><Media2><MediaID>578822</MediaID><Name>C366 MELANIE FISH</Name><FileName>X:\Media\C366 MELANIE FISH_1.wav</FileName><Length>00:00:04.0</Length><OutCue>THE FINAL DECISION</OutCue><Description>9 OUT OF 10 PARENTS SAY THEIR CHILDREN PLAY A ROLE IN FAMILY VACATION PLANNING</Description></Media2><PSI_MID_OBJECT>Media : C366 MELANIE FISHLength: 00:00:04.0OutCue: THE FINAL DECISIONDescription: 9 OUT OF 10 PARENTS SAY THEIR CHILDREN PLAY A ROLE IN FAMILY VACATION PLANNING.<PSI_END_OBJECT><PSI_START_OBJECT><PSI_MEDIA><Media2><MediaID>578823</MediaID><Name>C367 MELANIE FISH</Name><FileName>X:\Media\C367 MELANIE FISH_1.wav</FileName><Length>00:00:06.3</Length><OutCue>WITH THE FAMILY</OutCue><Description>THE KIDS' INPUT MATTERS TO TODAY'S PARENTS</Description></Media2><PSI_MID_OBJECT>Media : C367 MELANIE FISHLength: 00:00:06.3OutCue: WITH THE FAMILYDescription: THE KIDS' INPUT MATTERS TO TODAY'S PARENTS.<PSI_END_OBJECT><PSI_START_OBJECT><PSI_MEDIA><Media2><MediaID>578824</MediaID><Name>368 MELANIE FISH</Name><FileName>X:\Media\368 MELANIE FISH_1.wav</FileName><Length>00:00:05.9</Length><OutCue>TO BE</OutCue><Description>WHY PARENTS ARE GETTING SO MUCH INPUT FROM THE KIDS</Description></Media2><PSI_MID_OBJECT>Media : 368 MELANIE FISHLength: 00:00:05.9OutCue: TO BEDescription: WHY PARENTS ARE GETTING SO MUCH INPUT FROM THE KIDS.<PSI_END_OBJECT>###

REPORTER:   DM/JH

SOUND WITH:   VIRGINIA CONGRESSMAN TOM GARRETT

CONTACT NUMBER: (If available)

=====================================================================

VIRGINIA CONGRESSMAN TOM GARRETT SAYS WHAT TO DO WITH NORTH KOREA AFTER OTTO WARMBIER'S DEATH IS A COMPLICATED ISSUE.  GARRETT DOES NOT BELIEVE WE'VE EVER PUT ENOUGH PRESSURE ON CHINA -- OR EVEN IRAN -- REGARDING THE KIM REGIME.  HE SAYS WE NEED TO EXPLORE ALL PEACEFUL OPTIONS BEFORE PUTTING OUR TROOPS IN DANGER.  PLUS WE WOULD NEED THE BLESSINGS OF SOUTH KOREA, CHINA, AND JAPAN WHO WOULD SUFFER CALAMITUS CIVILIAN CASUALTIES IF NORTH KOREA IS ATTACKED.  WARMBIER IS THE UVA STUDENT WHO DIED LAST WEEK AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM A NORTH KOREAN PRISON.

STORY:  MOUNTAIN VALLEY PIPELINE

REPORTER: HARRIS

SOUND WITH:   BETH HARRIS VOICERS

CONTACT NUMBER: (If available)

=====================================================================

AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE PROPOSED MOUNTAIN VALLEY NATURAL GAS PIPELINE FINDS THE PROJECT WOULD HAVE "SIGNIFICANT" IMPACTS ON FORESTS IN VIRGINIA AND WEST VIRGINIA BUT "LIMITED" OTHER ADVERSE EFFECTS.

THE ANALYSIS WAS PUBLISHED BY THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION, WHICH OVERSEES INTERSTATE NATURAL GAS PIPELINES. ITS RELEASE MARKS A MILESTONE IN THE APPROVAL PROCESS FOR THE APPROXIMATELY 300-MILE PIPELINE. THE MOUNTAIN VALLEY PIPELINE AND SIMILAR ATLANTIC COAST PIPELINE HAVE DRAWN OPPOSITION FROM ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS AND MANY LANDOWNERS ALONG THE ROUTES. BUT MANY POLITICAL AND BUSINESS LEADERS SAY THE PROJECTS ARE NECESSARY FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
