CONVICTED MURDERER JENS SOERING (SURR-ing) IS GETTING SUPPORT FOR HIS RELEASE.  THIS TIME FROM ALBEMARLE SHERIFF CHIP HARDING, WHO HAS SENT A LETTER TO GOVERNOR MCAULIFFE ASKING FOR HIS RELEASE. 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: SOERING IS SERVING TWO LIFE TERMS FOR THE MURDER OF THE PARENTS OF HIS GIRLFRIEND IN 1985 IN BEDFORD COUNTY.   HARDING SAYS THERE'S NEW EVIDENCE, SOME OF WHICH JUST SURFACED THIS WEEK AS WELL AS EVIDENCE THAT EITHER WAS NOT SUBMITTED OR SHOULD HAVE BEEN OMITTED FROM JURY CONSIDERATION OF THE CASE.   HARDING SAYS HE WENT INTO THE INVESTIGATION ASSUMING SOERING, WHO'S THE SON OF A GERMAN DIPLOMAT, WAS LIKELY GUILTY BUT NOW HE'S CONVINCED HE'S INNOCENT.    HARDING SAYS THAT THE PROSECUTOR IN THE CASE, JAMES UPDIKE, CONVEYED MANY FALSE ARGUMENTS AND EVIDENCE THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ADMITTED DURING HIS TRIAL IN 1990.

STORY DETAILS:   AAA IS CALLING FOR 146 BILLION DOLLARS IN INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ---  FOCUSING IT ON SIX AREAS THEY BELIEVE WOULD SAVE THE MOST LIVES.  THE SIX INCLUDE MAKING KEY INTERSECTIONS ROUNDABOUTS, AND ADDING SIDEWALKS AND PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS ON MOST ROADS.   THE REQUEST COMES AT A TIME THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS ACTUALLY CONSIDERING PUMPING MONEY INTO INFRASTRUCTURE.  AAA BELIEVES THE IMPROVEMENTS COULD SAVE 63-THOUSAND LIVES OVER A 20 YEAR PERIOD.   THE OTHER IMPROVEMENTS WOULD BE : ROADSIDE BARRIERS, MEDIAN BARRIERS, CENTERLINE RUMBLE STRIPS, AND PAVING AND WIDENING SHOULDERS.

STORY DETAILS:   AAA IS CALLING FOR 146 BILLION DOLLARS IN INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ---  FOCUSING IT ON SIX AREAS THEY BELIEVE WOULD SAVE THE MOST LIVES.  THE SIX INCLUDE MAKING KEY INTERSECTIONS ROUNDABOUTS, AND ADDING SIDEWALKS AND PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS ON MOST ROADS.   THE REQUEST COMES AT A TIME THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS ACTUALLY CONSIDERING PUMPING MONEY INTO INFRASTRUCTURE.  AAA BELIEVES THE IMPROVEMENTS COULD SAVE 63-THOUSAND LIVES OVER A 20 YEAR PERIOD.   THE OTHER IMPROVEMENTS WOULD BE : ROADSIDE BARRIERS, MEDIAN BARRIERS, CENTERLINE RUMBLE STRIPS, AND PAVING AND WIDENING SHOULDERS.
